Helping the RI Homeless & Beyond

During the winter of 2020, Unity Radiant Light started a coat and supply drive for the local homeless that quickly branched out to multiple businesses. With an enormous show of support by means of donations, we took the to the streets of Providence every week to hand out coats, blankets, clothes, homemade hats and scarves, food, water, socks, and even shoes and suitcases directly to those who needed them the most. We made sure to take the time to speak with each person in need and learn more about their situation and the situations of others around them.

It soon became apparent that although a one-on-one interaction meant the world to those we were helping, it wasn’t nearly enough. Unity Radiant Light soon partnered with Helping the Homeless RI, who serves hot meals to hundreds of people in need every week in multiple towns throughout Rhode Island. By joining them while they handed out hot food, URL was able to pass out hundreds of articles of clothing, supplies, and nonperishable food.

Unity Radiant Light is now responsible for providing one hot meal a month to those in need in addition to the other supplies.

If you would like to volunteer, we need volunteers to

• Cook meals

• Bag meals

• Hand out meals

• Hand out clothing and supplies

• Pick up and deliver supplies and food

If you would like to donate, URL is looking for funds to purchase more hot meals and food for those in need. In addition, we are still looking for common supplies such as:

• Coats

• Blankets

• Food

• Clothing

• Hats

• Gloves

• Scarves

• Shoes

• Socks

• Suitcases

• Toiletries
